After the failure of the long-planned invasion, Aang and the rest of his team take refuge in the Western Air Temple, which is known as the training place for Female Air Nomads and was supposedly the first target of the Fire Nation when the war began 100 years ago because of its closeness. As soon they reach seeing the Western Air Temple far ahead, Aang sadly remembers the very first impression he had when he witnessed the Southern Air Temple devastated by the Fire Nation, and therefore he believes it will be the same at the Western Air Temple. But surprisingly, when they arrive, this place seems to be pretty much intact and with not Fire Nation traces, but apparently uninhabited. Teoh remembers that the Northern Air Temple where he lives was also abandoned when his people first arrived, and it was not until one year after they settled that the Fire Nation found the place (See “The Northern Air Temple”). more…
